Już 28 września w Łodzi reprezentacja Polski w Rugby League, która składa się w dużej mierze z polonijnych zawodników rozegra swój pierwszy oficjalny mecz domowy. To wspaniały przykład na to jak Polonia współpracuje z Ojczyzną!
Przeciwnikiem w spotkaniu, które odbędzie się na stadionie KS Budowlani przy ul Górniczej 5 będzie reprezentacja Czech.
Polacy na arenie międzynarodowej oficjalnie zadebiutowali w 2018 roku wyjazdowym meczem z Norwegią. Jesienią tego roku Biało-Czerwoni brali również udział w Emerging Nations World Cup – turnieju dla drużyn dopiero wchodzących na arenę międzynarodową i nie mogących jeszcze liczyć na udział w Pucharze Świata w Rugby League. W zawodach rozegranych w australijskim Sydney reprezentacja Polski zajęła najwyższe możliwe – 5 miejsce (wygrana Trophy). W Sydney 21 zawodników na 23 to wnuki i dzieci Polonii australijskiej.
Skomplikowany system rozgrywek wykluczał Polakom walkę o zwycięstwo w turnieju.
Pierwszy oficjalny mecz na polskiej ziemi jest wielkim wydarzeniem dla rodzimego środowiska Rugby League.
W prawdzie dotychczas reprezentacja rozgrywała już w Polsce mecze towarzyskie min. przeciwko brytyjskim studentom, jednak międzynarodowy „test match” przeciwko znajdującym się na 25 miejscu w ranking światowym Czechom to spotkanie o wiele wyższej rangi. Przedmeczowe zgrupowanie rozpocznie się 23 września, a poprowadzi je sztab szkoleniowy pod wodzą renomowanego trenera Lee Addisona. Warto zaznaczyć, że lokalnych graczy wesprą polonijni zawodnicy występujący na co dzień w Australii, przylatujący do Polski specjalnie na mecz z Czechami.
Nie oznacza to, że Biało-Czerwonym będzie łatwo. Nasi południowi sąsiedzi to doświadczona drużyna, posiadająca już pewną renomę w europejskim Rugby League. Mecz przeciwko Czechom będzie pierwszym, ale nie jedynym oficjalnym spotkaniem, które nasza reprezentacja rozegra w tym roku w Polsce. Jeszcze w październiku Polacy zmierzą się z reprezentacjami Szwecji (12 października) oraz Norwegii (19 października). Wyjątkowo pracowita jesień to dopiero początek dobrych informacji płynących z polskiego Rugby League. W 2020 oprócz dorocznych rozgrywek w dziewięcioosobowej odmianie Rugby League ruszy w Polsce liga rugby trzynastoosobowego.

On September 28th in Lodz, the Polish national Rugby League team will play their first official home test match. They will meet the 25th world ranked Czech Rugby League team meeting to be held at the KS Budowlani stadium at 5 Górnicza St with free admission to the game.
The Poles made their international debut officially in 2018 with their away match against Norway. In the fall of this year, the White and Red team also took part in the Emerging Nations World Championship - a tournament for teams just entering the international arena and not yet able to count on participating in the Rugby League World Cup. In the competitions held in Sydney Australia, the Polish national team took the highest possible - 5th place (Trophy won). The team was undefeated in the competition and with very convincing wins against Hong Kong (62-6), Japan (58-6), Vanuatu (44-4) with the final being a hard fight match between Philippines (14-10). With the conclusion of the tournament Poland had the best for and against in the tournament and also had the top point scorer in Ethan Niszczot and top try scorer Chippie Korostchuck, finishing the tournament ranked 23rd in the world. The complicated system of games excluded Poles from the fight for victory in the tournament.
The first official match on Polish soil is a great event in the home environment of the Rugby League. In truth, so far the national team has already played in Poland expedition matches, min. against British students, however, the international "test match" against the Czechs in the 25th place in the world ranking is a meeting of a much higher rank.
The pre-match grouping will start on September 23, and will be led by a training staff led by renowned trainer Lee Addison. It is worth noting that local players will be supported by players appearing in Australia on a daily basis, arriving in Poland especially for a match with the Czech Republic. This does not mean that White and Red will be easy. Our southern neighbors are an experienced team that already has a certain reputation in the European Rugby League. The Australian based players will be doing charity events though out the week by visiting hospitals and going to schools to give demonstrations of the game to the school children. The players from Australia have self found there trip to come over to experience the Polish culture and view there heritage. As much of the Australian players are descendants of Poland migrants who moved to Australia after WWII. They are all very proud of there heritage and family. Can’t wait to represent Poland in this test match. They have heard of the welcoming and caring nature our community has and are donating there time to do these demonstrations at schools and hospital visit.
The match against the Czech Republic will be the first, but not the only official match, which our team will play this year in Poland. In October, Poles will face Sweden (October 12) and Norway (October 19). Extremely busy autumn is just the beginning of good information from the Polish Rugby League. In 2020, in addition to the annual games in the nine-player version of the Rugby League, the thirteen-person rugby league will start in Poland.
